{HISTORY}

In the 1950s, this was how you served your springtime meals!

After all the messy work of cooking was complete, and your lamb roast or your spiraled ham was ready for presentation at the table, you removed your practical, trusty cotton apron - the one that has seen years of cooking adventures with the spots and stains to prove it - and you exchanged it for this beauty just before you headed to table.

Back then, ladies weren't into showing family and friends the realities of cooking a meal. The kitchen was behind closed doors, food wasn't served from a pot or a pan, and cooks didn't greet their dining companions in clothing that suggested there was something a mess in the kitchen. Instead, they arrived refreshed wearing a beautiful dress, a delicate apron and a welcoming expression all suggesting that putting this meal together was a total breeze. An effortless activity. A beautiful affair from start to finish. 

That was a bit of tomfoolery on the cook's part, Hostess aprons like this rarely saw any cooking action at all in the kitchen, which is what has kept them in such beautiful shape all these decades later. In a bright shade of mint green, this hostess apron, in particular, features a handkerchief hem and extra-long apron ties. Feminine and delicate, it is made of a thin organdy material that is semi-transparent and immaculately clean. Tulips, lily of the valley, and a diamond-patterned scalloped edge add an extra dose of style to the hem and an extra air of gaiety to the cook.

{CONDITION}

In lovely vintage condition. There are no spots or stains, but there are seven small pin-sized holes in the organdy section just above one of the handkerchief panels. These holes are very tiny and barely noticeable. They do not affect the structure of the apron in any way. Please see photos for details.

There is no noted size info, but most likely this will fit a medium size frame. The extra-long apron ties make this one very accomodating to a wide variety of body shapes and sizes. Measurements, when the garment is lying flat, are as follows...
