Let the baking begin! In the 1950s, after you made your mile-high chiffon cake, or your famous three-layer deviled chocolate confection or your marbled coffee cake, you packed your delectable dessert up in this tin caddy and toted it off to the party, the picnic, the potluck.
Made by Decoware, a division of the Continental Can Company, this cake carrier kept your dessert looking pretty during transport so that by the time you arrived at your destination your cake looked just as lovely as it did back in your kitchen.
Chances are if you ever purchased a can of food, threw something away in a metal wastebasket, drank from a glass tumbler, or toted a cake around you were familiar with the Continental Can Company. Also known as the C.C.C., they were assisting home cooks in kitchens across the country since the early 1900s.
In the 1950s, they introduced their Decoware line, offering coordinating sets of tin storage boxes, canisters and organizers for the kitchen. Available in a wide variety of patterns and colors cake carriers added charm and convenience to the home baker, ensuring that desserts arrived at their final destinations in pretty packaging with all contents intact.
This cake carrier features a yellow rose bouquet accented with blue tulips and buttercups. With its simple, three-clasp design the lid fits firmly and snuggly inside a grooved tin plate confidently allowing just enough protection for sturdy transport. A collapsible metal handle makes it a breeze to tote and the lid fastens to the plate in an easy-breezy, quick-snap fashion.

{CONDITION}
In lovely vintage condition. Clean and shiny overall, there are some scratches and wear due to age and authentic timeworn patina. The interior dome bears some light rust along the inner seams, and one side of the lid, ear the seam, bears a small dent - but these are insignificant and would not affect the continued use of this lovely carrier. in any way. The clips fasten firmly in place and the handle is fully operational. Please see photos.
