Vintage 1950s Johnson Brothers Devonshire Platter
{HISTORY}
Harvest tables around the country were a touch more colorful when this 1950s platter was part of the seasonal serving set.
Made in England between the 1950s and 1960s by Johnson Bros, this Devonshire platter features a detailed floral pattern complete with swirls, swags, birds, and a gadroon-style edge. Offering an array of choices when it came to color palette, the Devonshire was available in a few different shades including brown/ivory, multi-colored, blue, and pink. This platter features the multi-color palette with shades of cranberry, lime, marigold, and blueberry set against a lacy espresso-colored background. Hand-colored under the glaze for dynamic mix-and-match styling and creative tablescapes, this color arrangement looks so pretty with the best of earthy autumn hues and Thanksgiving foods.
It's no wonder it was such a popular pattern for midcentury holiday entertaining. Effortless in its ability to blend, while also being a standout server all on its own, it's sized at 12.25 inches in diameter, making it ideal for vegetables, sides, salads, and hors d'oeuvres.
Whether you incorporate it into your collection to showcase your new favorite recipe or put it to work as a display piece, it will help create a warm, cozy atmosphere for this warm and cozy time of year.
