Vintage 1950s Johnson Bros Devonshire Bread Plates - Set of Two
{HISTORY}
Thanksgiving tables around the country were a touch more colorful when these 1950s bread plates were added to the serving set.
Made in England in the 1950s and 1960s by Johnson Bros, this is the Devonshire pattern which features a detailed floral rim complete with swirls, swags, birds and a gadroon-style edge. Available in a few different color choices, the Devonshire pattern could be found in brown/ivory, multi-colored, blue, and pink. These two bread plates feature the multi-color version - each piece hand-colored under the glaze for dynamic mix-and-match styling and creative tablescapes.
A popular pattern for midcentury holiday entertaining, the Devonshire features all the brightly lit yet earthy colors of fall foliage, pumpkin season and turkey day trimmings including marigold, blueberry, chocolate, merlot, espresso, cranberry and lime.
Whether you incorporate them into your collection to showcase your home-baked bread or encourage them to mingle with other small plates of the salad and dessert varieties, these two will add a splash of vintage cheer to your holiday table.
