{HISTORY}

In the 1950's, in the wonderful Southern city of New Orleans,  Louisiana, you'd wake up to a cup of coffee served in your Blue Bouquet dishware made exclusively for the Standard Coffee Company of New Orleans. On your breakfast tray, there would be a fresh flower clipped from the garden, the morning newspaper folded in two, a French pastry, a piece of fruit, and tucked between all that, you'd have your matching set... a cup and saucer, a pitcher full of cream, and this floral sugar bowl, in the old Boston style, made by Hall China. Adding a bit of sweetness to your morning, this sugar bowl started each and every day with you, a coffee companion adding a burst of first day energy to get you on your way. 

Back in the decades before supermarkets were built to contain all our needs and wants, groceries were delivered in tidy parcels to doorsteps all over New Orleans. Standard Coffee Company founded by wholesale grocery retailer, William Reilly in 1919, was one such company taking care of Louisianians physical shopping needs for home delivery. In addition to their famous coffee and tea, Standard also offered various pieces of kitchenware like this Blue Bouquet dishware featuring blue and gold lattice, silver trim and a colorful floral bouquet. 

Now a very rare, hard-to-find pattern, this sugar bowl represents all sorts of time worn nostalgia... the beauty of a city, the entrepreneurial spirit of a coffee company, and the convenience of home delivered products and services. Sweet in design and purpose it contains enough colors to match with a variety of other dishware patterns for a unique mismatched set.
