{HISTORY}

Made between 1942-1945, this set of five Fire-King-custard cups features the ever-popular Peach Lustre finish. With its shiny iridescent peach glaze, creamy milk glass interior and scalloped rim, this color was a big hit for Fire-King upon debut. Made during the WWII years, we bet the warm color and extra shimmer helped boost everyone's spirits in the kitchen and at table just like the power of a bright, sunshiney afternoon.

A little more delicate than other Fire-King patterns and finishes, peach lustre did not survive the decades as easily as some other Fire-King patterns. Once dishwashers became a common fixture in kitchens, many home cooks unknowingly and accidentally washed away the reflective sheen from the lustre finish. So to find vintage dishes with this soft sherbert glow still intact is quite a joy.

Today, these cups are gorgeous for serving ice cream, pudding, fruit, yogurt, specialty sauces, dips - the sky is the limit. In spring and summer, they look beautiful on the outdoor table when paired with pastel and citrus shades. In fall, they enhance rustic pumpkin and earth tones,  and in winter they warm the spirit with their colorful,  reflective light. Year-round delight and creativity await!

{SPECIAL FEATURES}

- Matching set of five

- Each cup is marked with the Fire-King logo that dates to the mid-1940s along with their USA stamp and the 424 style number

{CONDITION}

These cups are in gorgeous condition, with no chips, cracks or staining. Two of the cups each have one small section of striation lines (slight scratches in the lustre) which is common to the finish's delicate composition and the age of the cups. These lines do not run all the way around the exterior of both cups. They are just in two small areas and are only most noticeable when the cups are empty, due to the fact that the light can shone through from inside to outside in those areas. When the cups are full of food, they are barely noticeable. Please see photos.

{SIZE}

Each cup measures 3.75" inches (diameter) x 2" inches (height) and weighs 4.6 oz

{CARE INSTRUCTIONS}

Please note, these cups need to be hand-washed after each use to ensure that the peach lustre remains shiny and bright for decades more to come.
