Vintage 1930s McCoy Cookie Jar - Blue Floral Ball Shape circa 1939-1944

This vintage round ball-shaped cookie jar with its handpainted flowers was made during a peak and popular time in the company's history - the 1930s - when demand was high for both functional food storage pieces and also decorative items. This cookie jar falls in the functional food storage section but also is beautifully decorative too.
Thanks to the shoulder handles, the angled finial on the lid, and the cute round shape this cookie jar is full of classic 1930s design hallmarks. Made during the WWII years between 1939-1944, each jar was handpainted and the glazes came in a wide variety of colors making each jar unique and also a fun collector's item. this one features a cobalt blue glaze with butter-yellow flowers. A classic combo for any blue kitchen lover, it's fun to imagine all the different types of cookies that once may have filled this jar. Chocolate chip, ginger snaps, snickerdoodles, sugar, pecan sandies, shortbread, angel kisses,... oh the list goes on and on!

In gorgeous condition. Contains no chips or cracks. Very clean inside and out with a bright shiny glaze on both the exterior and interior. As you'll see from the photos the paint on the handpainted flowers is chippy - a mark of authenticity that occurs on all Vintage McCoy jars of this time period.
