Vintage 1930s Hand Painted Floral Porcelain Soup Bowls by Meito China - Set of Six
{HISTORY}
There's a reason why Meito and Noritake dishware are always grouped together and often mistaken for one another at first glance. That's because the founder of Meito China, Kotaro Asuki, was a previous employee of Noritake and assumed many of the techniques and artistic proclivities with which he had become familiar during his time at Noritake.
Made in Japan in the 1930s, this set of vintage porcelain coupe soup bowls features all the hallmarks of beautifully patterned dishware that made Meito China synonymous with gorgeous design. Featuring a pale Tiffany blue stripe, gold handles, hand-painted floral swags, mustard-shaded dots, and lacy grey stripes, this set of six is enhanced with the two-tone color palette of pale yellow and bright white that was very popular during the 1930s.
A pastel wonderland of vibrant and softly shaded hues, elegant and dainty, these soup bowls are the handiest size for serving a wide array of food. Our most favorite bowl shape in the kitchen, it's ideal for serving the aforementioned soup but also pasta, poached eggs, risotto, salads of all sorts, homemade desserts served with ice cream, casseroles, creamed vegetables, yogurt with fruit and nuts, and any sort of saucy, slow simmered main entree. Basically, this shape is great for serving anything that involves a drizzle or a splash, a sauce or a broth.
