Vintage 1930s Floral Porcelain Cake Plate with Pink White and Yellow Flowers
{HISTORY}
Small in size as far as cake plates go, this vintage porcelain beauty features the prettiest color palette of deep magenta, warm buttercup and pale olive shades. Most likely intended for finger sandwiches, bonbons, or petit fours, it is delightfully eye-catching thanks to the embossed edge which adds visual interest when the plate is stacked full of delectables that hide the flowers.
We also love dishes of this size for serving cheese and crackers, cookies, tea biscuits, brownies, and bars at snack time or to accompany the tea or coffee tray for a restorative afternoon reprieve.
Dating to the 1930s, yet unmarked as to maker, we can only guess at its original origin - perhaps France or Germany, possibly Austria, Czechoslovakia or Bavaria. Whichever city it calls home, this plate is beautifully made in the style of all the famous European porcelain makers with extra care given to overall composition and aesthetically pleasing designs.
