Vintage 1930s Courtly Dancing Embroidery Samplers - Baroque Era Couple - Set of Three
{HISTORY}
Stitched on soft, natural linen, these three vintage embroidery panels feature vignettes of a courtly couple dancing in the baroque ballrooms of the 17th and 18th centuries. There are wall-mounted candlesticks, pastel floral bouquets and chivalrous gestures capturing the delicate and cordial air of dancing three centuries ago.
Handstitched in the 1930s, all three panels contain a variety of embroidery styles including French knot, cross stitch, and running stitch. Colorful flowers in shades of pastel blue, bubble gum pink, and chartreuse peek out from black threads highlighting folds of clothing, decorative hairpieces, ankle-high garden paths and costume embellishments.
An unusual vintage embroidery pattern that is harder to find these days, these three contain an aged aesthetic that gives them a delightfully authentic vibe. It's fun to think that almost 100 years ago, a sewer was hard at work, stitch by stitch creating each scene. Talented at their endeavors, there are no loose threads or stitches gone awry.
Petite in size these samplers offer all sorts of inspiration for your next sewing or craft project. Perhaps you might make incorporate them into a new yet old design for a table runner, a tray linen, cafe curtains, an apron, or decorative pillow covers. Or frame them for a vintage wall display.
