Texans need little reason to plan extravagant entertaining...

{HISTORY}

First published in 1976, the Dallas Junior League Cookbook was a runaway hit, both in its local community and across the country. Filled to the brim with regional recipes that espouse Southern hospitality, it contains a wide mix of Tex-Mex cuisine, country club cookery, fancy feasts, and tried and true heirloom recipes from private kitchens across the city.

From quirky suggested menus like Lunch on a Private Jet to unique exercise-inspired snacks (Aerobics Biceps Booster)... from wild game recipes (Venison Chili) to tailgate party foods (Chicken Chutney Cream Cheese Sandwiches)... from elegant appetizers (Caviar and Cream Cheese on Artichoke Rounds) to traditional mainstays (Thanksgiving in the South Menu) and from regional specialties that combine Mexican-American heritage (Enchiladas Verdes de Mercedes) to locally produced recipes for coastal cooking ( Web's Best Fish Ever), this cookbook covers all matter of food when it comes to eating and entertaining, Texas style.

Compiled by 25 members of the Dallas Junior League Committee, this cookbook sold over 60,000 copies by the time this edition came out in 1979. Proof that America was anxious for a taste of Texas and the wide variety of culinary possibilities the Lone Star landscape offers.

Along with a collection of suggested menus, additional features also include information on wine pairing, decanting, and collecting, as well as a weights and measures table, an emergency substitutions guide, and a list of helpful tips and tricks that seasoned cooks have learned along the way.

 {SPECIAL FEATURES}

- 1979 edition

- 424 pages

- Includes full-color photographs throughout and decorated endpapers

{CONDITION}

In lovely vintage condition. There are a few pages that contain random cooking spots most often appearing on the party food pages (a good sign of a festive time!) and a small section of lightly wrinkled pages at the top edge in the vegetable section where some water may have splashed on the paper. This affects about 14 pages. This splash is very minimal and does not affect the reading of the recipes or the integrity of the paper or book in any way. Otherwise, this book is in great shape with clean bright pages and a tight spine.

{SIZE}

Measures 9.25" inches (length) x 6.25" inches (width) x 1.25" inches (thickness) and weighs just under 2lbs.
