 If I loved you less, I may be able to talk about it more. Jane Austen, Emma

{HISTORY}

Jane needs no introduction. She's been inspiring writers since the early 1800s. And rightly so. Still so engaging today, Jane Austen (1775 - 1817) was an incredible writer - able to capture the attention and imagination of two centuries worth of readers simply due to her relatable storylines and dynamic characters.

Between the years 1938-1986, Modern Library, a division of Random House, published three distinct versions of The Complete Novels of Jane Austen, which include Sense and Sensibility, Pride and Prejudice, Mansfield Park, Emma, Northanger Abbey, and Persuasion. This edition published sometime been 1944 and 1956 was the middle book of the three. Containing 1364 pages, it was part of their Modern Library Giant series and was numbered G58. In good company with many there authors of great repute including Shakespeare, Tolstoy, Tennyson and Hawthorne she was the only female author at the time to be awarded her own title within the Modern Library Giant series.

Weighing in at 2lbs 7 oz., this is a big book for big fans of Jane and all her characters. Well-loved over time as most every single one of Jane's books always are, this particular one features a few handwritten notes scattered throughout the pages and a light tanning of the soft, thin book paper. A delight to both read and hold in your hands, this book rests nicely thanks to its wide spine and the pages turn and lay flat easily thanks to decades of enjoyment.
