{HISTORY}

For forty years William W. Klenke (1889-1961) taught woodworking classes in Newark, New Jersey where he taught students how to make practical furniture for traditional American homes. In 1930, he published this book, Selected Furniture Drawings - a collection of some of his most popular, most requested projects. 

With nothing more than a home workshop or access to a local technical school woodworking classroom, aspiring makers could make over 40 different pieces of practical furniture for the kitchen, living room and drawing room sections of the house.  Chairs, cupboards, plant stands, desks, and tea carts are just a few of the projects included here, along with working drawings of each piece to ensure success.

Nowadays, this hard-to-find book is a great representation and a valuable resource of 1920s/1930s furniture design.  William's work combines the timeless elegance of early 20th-century domestic interiors with practical hands-on DIY training for the home hobbyist and craftsman.

{CONDITION}

In good vintage condition. The rare dust jacket was in a fragile state so it has been reinforced with acid-free paper to preserve its original integrity. The coverboards are in great shape with  The interior pages are clean and bright. There is light foxing on many of the pages and a slight warble to the top and bottom edge of many of the pages as well as the stamped name of a previous owner on the front endpaper.  Please see photos.
