Rare Vintage Morley, Fox & Co Springtime Bowl circa 1938 Made in England
{HISTORY}
Made in England in 1938 by the pottery Morley, Fox and Co, this small bowl features the Springtime pattern - a colorful mix of dancing tulips beneath a sky-blue stripe and a festive scallop of black dots. Just like the season itself, there is a big dose of delight wrapped up in the festive pattern of this small bowl.
Featuring the colors tomato red, mustard, purple, lilac, black, spring green, peach, gold and sky blue it is an interesting mix of shades that offers the ability to coordinate with many other dish patterns.
Perhaps first intended as an open sugar bowl or a small soup or cereal bowl, it's size offers lots of potential for modern day use running the gamut from food prep to table service. Hard to find nowadays, it also serves as a beautiful display piece given its rarity and its wonderfully aged aesthetic.
Morley, Fox & Co operated between 1906-1944 and made all sorts of pretty dishes with pretty patterns - a level of design that carried through even to their backstamp mark. Shaped like the peak of a roof with smoke coming out of the chimney on one side and a tree on the other, the Morley, Fox & Co mark, also known as Morleyware, was a little nod to their domestic market and the idyllic scenes they reproduced in their dishware.
