Rare Vintage Midcentury German Alarm Clock by Ruhla - Working Condition circa 1960s-1980s
The timelessness in you is aware of life's timelessness. And knows that yesterday is but today's memory and tomorrow is today's dream. Kahil Gibran
{HISTORY}
Back in the latter half of the 20th century, this petite desktop mechanical clock helped you sail through the day on time and on schedule.
Made by Ruhla, the famous watchmaking company that was in operation from 1862-1991, this little time traveler is now hard to find among vintage East German clocks.
Originally in the early days, Ruhla started out making hinges, then music boxes and then watches and clocks. Although they serviced both the German and North American markets, their timepieces were what really caught attention beginning in the 1890s, especially in America. Making millions of high quality, reliable, and affordable timepieces through world wars, economic crisis, political unrest and productivity fluctuations, Ruhla successfully evolved throughout the 20th century until the factory closed permanently in 1991.
This now hard-to-find Ruhla desktop clock was made between 1963 and the 1980s. It features the Made in GDR (German Democratic Republic) mark and contains a black face, cream metal body, push button alarm and a handle for easy transport. Self-winding with a quietly rhythmic tick tick tick, both the alarm and the dials are in working order and keep accurate time.
A handsome visitor from the past, this vintage alarm clock brings a world of vintage style to your space. Whether you continue to use it as a functional time clock or simply appreciate it for its aesthetic design and solid craftsmanship, this vintage clock is a lovely way to mark the day in our modern century.

{CONDITION}
In wonderful working condition. All the gears and dials turn smoothly. The clock sits securely on a tabletop with no wobbling. The glass is clear and free of scratches. There are some chippy areas on the cream-colored sections of the clock body (please see photos). When wound, the clock has a soft ticking sound. The alarm bell is loud but not obnoxious - more like a medium volume tin-sounding bell rather than a loud clanking-emergency-style bell.
