{HISTORY}

Petite in the prettiest of ways, this small vintage serving dish was made in the 1930s-1940s by Edwin Knowles China Co. in Newall, West Virginia.

Featuring the Cremelace (also known as Cream Lace) design, it contains a beautiful scalloped edge, embossed shoulder, and pastel floral bouquet bursting with cottage flowers.

First starting out as a companion piece to a gravy boat, this underplate would have been the helpful dish that caught drips from the gravy boat and protected tabletops from spots and stains. Somewhere along its 80-plus years of life, it lost touch with the gravy boat and now sails the seas of time on its own. This loss of a mate doesn't render this dish unusable, though. It's a fantastic size for use as a butter dish, a small platter, a teatime snack tray or a decorative wall hanging.

{CONDITION}

In lovely vintage condition, this server contains no chips, cracks, spots or stains. The gold stripe around the rim is wearing in some spots. The transferware bouquet is bright, crisp and clear.
