{HISTORY}
During the 20th century, John and Hazel were a dynamic husband and wife team in the baking world. Both professional pastry chefs trained in Europe, they specialized in sweet treat confections that had old-world charm. Cookbook authors, hotel pastry chefs and operators of a baking school where John taught students the art of cake decorating, the Zenkers turned their passion for delicious desserts into lifetime study and execution. Celebrity clientele caught notice too. John's most famous job would be the commissioning that came from the office of President John F. Kennedy for his 44th birthday cake which was displayed and served at the Democratic National Convention in 1961. John (the pastry chef) created a gigantic multi-tiered cake complete with a White House topper and a sign that read Happy Birthday Mr. President.
In Cookie Cookery, Hazel and John share 300 recipes from their dozens of years working in and around the baking business, including hotel favorites, restaurant regulars and European favorites.
