(from the Introduction)
{HISTORY}
Better Homes and Gardens came out with their first binder-style cookbook in the 1930's. By the time this edition was printed in 1965, over 10,000,000 copies had been sold, launching BH & G into classic cookbook territory and making them proven, beloved and essential members of kitchens across the country.
Culling recipes from their monthly magazine, Better Homes and Gardens ran all the best ones through their Test Kitchen, perfecting, adapting and simplifying them so that all home cooks would find them approachable no matter what their age or skill level.
In addition to recipes, they also offered suggested menus for a variety of events throughout the year, advice on cooking techniques, equipment, food handling, nutrition, shopping and appliance care, making this book a one-stop shop for all kitchen related info.
What is particularly fun about this cookbook now, is its retro photography, classic recipes and innovative, creatively styled desserts. This edition also featured a page booster, which was a clear plastic sleeve located inside the five-ring binder section that helped all the pages lay flat when the book was open.
