Antique Tatting Pieces - Set of 5 Handmade Pieces
{HISTORY}
When you look at a piece of antique tatting, you'll see a marvelous world of detail and intricacy. This set of five pieces ranges in design to include flowers, medallions and geometric shapes all threaded together to form eye-catching designs.
While the actual purpose and intent of these five are unknown, we suspect that they might have been sewn for use as doilies or display clothes placed underneath saucers or bowls when serving tea, coffee or candied sweet treats. Incredibly delicate and highly detailed, they are each mini works of art and shining examples of the talented needlework artist who made them.
Doilies today aren't part of our modern-day aesthetics as much as they used to be back in the early 20th century, but these five still have a very valued place in home decor today. Attach each one to the front of decorative throw pillows and you add an instant romantic and lacy look to your window seat nook, couch or bed pillow collection. Incorporate them into special occasion clothing like wedding dresses or christening attire and they add a unique heirloom component to a special day that will be remembered for generations. Or frame each piece and turn them into a series of wall art for dynamic display.
If you are a sewer, you'll probably have a million more ideas of ways to incorporate this set into something creative, so we'll leave that dreaming and designing up to you. But however you chose to include them, we have a feeling it's going to be fantastic. This isn't just a run-of-the-mill, everyday, ordinary project made with modern materials. It's a chance to thread centuries together, piece by piece.

{CONDITION}
Each piece is in gorgeous antique condition. There are no spots, stains or holes on any piece. There is the start of a minor piece of thread separation on the linen fabric portion of the square piece with the zig-zag/ric rac style design. Otherwise, all pieces are in remarkably intact shape given their very fragile and delicate design.
