Antique Shaving Mirror Wall Pocket - Distressed Green Metal Tin Storage
The world is a looking-glass... William Makepeace Thackery
With just the right amount of authentic time-worn patina, this antique shaving mirror is both a stylish decor piece and a functional item. Originally, it was part of the grooming routine of a Victorian gentleman. It would have hung on a wall near his washstand or his chiffarobe for easy access and practicality. The pocket would have held all his shaving accessories... brush, mug, soap, and maybe a towel or cloth, and perhaps a photo of his sweetheart. The diamond-shaped mirror offered a full view of his face, so he wouldn't miss any spots, and the punched hole near the top offered easy hanging on a simple nail.
Nowadays, this wall pocket has tons of potential far beyond grooming, although that would be fine too. But moreover, around here we love it for kitchen work too. Because of its accommodating size, it now serves as a handy holder for spices, succulents, recipe cards, notepads, utensils, and kitchen towels. Hang it on a wall to reflect light, hold the mail or hang onto the odds and ends needed for your bar cart. Put it to work as an organizer of your seed packets, a container to hold pens, pencils, and chalk, or use it as a display shelf for sunny bouquets of garden clippings. The sky's the limit!
Shabby in all the right places, with a very aged yet still highly reflective mirror, there is silver spray paint on the front, original green metal on the back, and a deep and sturdy forward-facing pocket, this antique wonder is full of charm and personality.
