The hostess who makes it a point to bestow hospitality in this unaffected fashion, and who does not exact formality, but offers a warm welcome to all, is sure of having an agreeable circle of friends. Notes on a Tea Reception from Woman's Favorite Cook, 1902

{HISTORY}

This gorgeous trio of tea service pieces was made by the Morimura Brothers of Japan in the early years of the 20th century. Marked with their signature hand-painted Nippon laurel wreath stamp and made of bright white porcelain, these pretty pieces are a matching set ideal for individual tea service. Containing flowers, swags, gold beading and decorative swirls and boxes, they add elegance to any daytime respite reminding us that the act of pouring tea is a time-honored ceremony both of beauty and of grace.

This srt would have originally come with matching teacups and saucers, but those were separated from this bunch at some point over the past 100 years. That now leaves room for additional cup and saucer companions in complimentary colors for a unique mix and match collection.

Designs by the Morimura Brothers, both in their Nippon days and their eventual famous Noritake days are favorites here in the shop. Noted for their craftsmanship, unique designs and attention to detail, their pieces have been collected by admirers around the world since the very beginning. Read more about their story here.

{SPECIAL FEATURES}

- Matching set of three tea servers, containing 5 pieces total

- Each piece is marked on the bottom with the Nippon Hand Painted stamp except for the creamer which contains no stamp

- Colors include gold, crimson, pink, celery green, lime green and apricot

- Both the teapot and the sugar jar come with removable lids

{CONDITION}

In well-loved condition, this set has been enjoyed and admired throughout its life. There are no cracks or crazing on these pieces but there are rub marks on the gold sections of each piece, particularly around the handles, the rims and the bases. There is one tiny surface chip on the inner part of the handle of the teapot. This is an old surface chip and has been worn smooth over time. It does not affect the structural integrity of the teapot handle in any way. Please see photos for accurate examples.

{SIZE}

The teapot measures 4.5" inches (height including lid) x 6.5"inches (length- spout to handle) x 4.5" inches (diameter at base)

The sugar jar measures 4"inches (height including lid) x 5.5" inches (width - handle to handle) x 4" inches (diameter at base)

The creamer measures 2.5" inches (height) x 4.25" inches width (spout to handle) x 3" inches (diameter at base)
