This gorgeous antique cake and sandwich plate is no wallflower when it comes to presentation. That makes it a stunner of a server and an inspiring springboard of possibility when paired with all your kitchen creativity. 

Blueberry tartletts, mini plum crumb cakes, Linzer cookies, chocolate-frosted petit fours, lavender-laced sugar cookies, lemon bars dusted with fresh-cut mint... those are exciting options on the dessert front. As for sandwiches... cucumber, blackberry jam, cold chicken salad with grapes and walnuts, watercress and red onion, beet and honeyed goat cheese crostini, mini fruit flatbreads, wine and cheese crackers... we could go on and on when it comes to pairing pretty foods with this pretty plate.

Unmarked by maker, we can only guess that this floral charmer was made in one of the artistic porcelain pottery hubs of France, Germany, Bavaria, or Czechoslovakia. Given its unique design and striking color palette, we can also safely assume that the decorator responsible for this prize was a true artist. The cascading grape and lavender shaded blooms feature dots of gold paint at each flower's center, all enhanced by the gold detailing around the plate's pale yellow center. Embossed scallops mirror the patterns in the celadon leaves, and the gold swirls at each handle add extra flourish. But the real standout component is that lovely bright pink edge that sits somewhere between magenta, beet, and the juice of baked blueberries.

A beauty for wall display just as much as table service, this is one of those dishes that can instantly inspire a whole assortment of things from room decor to color palettes to menu selections and maybe some other things too.

{CONDITION}

In beautiful antique condition, this plate contains no chips, cracks, spots, or stains. The colors are bright and vibrant, and the floral bouquets are crisp and clear. There are two small indentations in the center ring on the back of the plate that may have been flaws  that occurred during the manufacturing process. Both are tiny (less than 1/4 inch in size) and do not affect the plate or its integrity in any way. Please see photos.
