{HISTORY}

A work of art as much as a functional serving dish, this antique platter was made by Knowles, Taylor & Knowles sometime around the turn of the 20th century. With its gracefully aged aesthetic and its delicate pink rose floral design, this is a beauty that sets the stage for a certain kind of aesthetic. 

Warm, aged, dainty, it carries over 100 years of stories visible in the crazing lines, the staining patterns, and the scuffed gold-accented rim.  Defined by use and love, it portrays a perfectly imperfect essence of a life lived in and around food and family for over a century. This was not one of those dishes that was tucked inside a cabinet and forgotten about for decades. No no. This plate captured life in the best sense. It was part of the table, part of the room, part of the meal, part of the house. It was part of the family.

In lovely antique condition. No chips or cracks. Both the inner and outer gold rim bears rub marks in some spots.
