{HISTORY}

Made in England by John Edwards between 1891 and 1900, this 8-inch vegetable bowl features the Holland pattern with green and gold swirls and an embossed edge. Containing both handpainted and transferware designs, the Holland pattern offers plenty of appeal for year-round decorating and serving, but looks especially pretty during the holiday season spanning Thanksgiving all the way through New Year's.

Vegetable bowls of this size and shape, are a handy helper in the kitchen. Here in the Vintage Kitchen, we use a similar antique hotelware piece of the same size and shape for all sorts of things from storing leftovers in the fridge to making flower centerpiece bouquets for the table to serving warm rolls wrapped up in linen on the table.

A beauty when paired with Christmas greenery, autumn pinecones, and shimmery glass holiday ornaments, this bowl adds a little sparkle to any table or kitchen display. It also looks gorgeous with other mismatched antique green transferware dishes and bright white ironstone collections.

{SPECIAL FEATURES}

- Hard to find piece in the Holland pattern

- Pine green and gold color palette against bright white body

- handpainted details

- Stamped on bottom with maker's mark, pattern name, and two impressed marks - one being a registration mark and the other possibly being a date of manufacture mark (December 1895)

{CONDITION}

In lovely antique condition. This dish contains no cracks or staining. The gold rim is wearing in some areas, but most of it remains shiny and bright. There is one small age-old chip on the front interior wall of the bowl (measuring less than 1/4" inch in length) as well as a small series of pencil point-sized chips on the exterior wall near the bottom of the dish  (measuring 1/2" inch in length). Small indentations (the size of pencil points) can be seen around the middle part of the bowl on the exterior. This is caused by placement of the dish in the kiln during the manufacturing process.  These are very old flaws that add character and an aged look to the bowl and do not detract from its beauty in any way. Please see photos.

{SIZE}

Measures 8.75" inches (length) x 6.25" inches (width) x 1.75" inches (height) and weighs 14 oz.

{STYLE IDEA}
