{HISTORY}

Homer Laughlin dishware is always a favorite around the Vintage Kitchen. Not only are they America's most prolific dishware maker, but they are also one of the oldest continuously operating potteries in the country. First founded by brothers Homer and Shakespeare Laughlin in East Liverpool, Ohio in 1871 - HL has grown into a worldwide recognized brand that has decorated kitchens and tables for over 145 years.

As you can imagine, a century and a half of dish manufacture results in an immense variety of patterns and designs. This antique Homer Laughlin pitcher with its pink roses and gold ivy leafed trellis pattern dates to about the 1880s. That was the early years when Homer Laughlin was just getting started, which makes this an especially fun and rare find.

Three times as big as a creamer yet half the size of water pitcher, we suspect this 48 oz vessel was intended for serving fresh milk. Nowadays it also makes a lovely vase for fresh flowers or a holder for errant kitchen utensils.

{SPECIAL FEATURES}

- Rare pattern

- 48 oz (6 cups) capacity

- Colors include pastel pink, raspberry, mint, pale blue, gold, and pale lemon

- This pitcher is not marked with the Homer Laughlin stamp but instead with the letters KR80

In lovely antique condition. The gold rim has mostly worn off the top and bottom rim. The transferware roses and the gold leaf trellis design are bright and clear with crisp lines. There is also a small stain on the bottom of the interior.
