Antique German Porcelain Serving Bowl with Grey Lustreware and Gold Detailing
What I possess, I see far distant lying, and what I lost grows real and undying. Goethe
{HISTORY}
The beauty of the antique German bowl knows absolutely no boundaries. This one in particular is so feminine and delicate and lady-like. Pretty without being fussy, this piece of porcelain contains four flowers, a shimmery grey and green lustrerware wash and shiny gold detailing.
Although it most likely hovers around antique age (100years +), it has a fresh air to it and could very well be attributed to the 1930s as much as the 1910s. It could fit in well with a range of classic styles from victorian to art nouveau and even craftsman.
The plight of not being able to specifically and exactly identify which time period it was made in relies on the fact that it has the merest of back stamps. With just a mark stating that it was made in Germany and stamped with the number 3, it could have belonged to any one of the famous porcelain pottery factories that Germany and Bavaria are so well known for.
In any case, it's a beauty to be appreciated and offers a host of possibilities in the modern kitchen. Pile it high with your fruits and vegetables on the counter, display it with your bright white dishes in your cupboard, or incorporate it into your serving collection and add a touch of something pretty to your next dinnertime party. The lusterware and the gold detailing reflect candlelight beautifully.
