Antique Favorite Clothes Dryer Wall Mounted Wooden Dryer Rack - Ready to Hang
{HISTORY}
Definitely one of the most useful inventions that has traveled the road of history, this antique wooden clothes drying rack is still so wonderfuly practical for today's modern living.
Originally, it was intended to dry clothes, which it still does very well, but when it comes to practical uses today, it is also great for laundering delicate linens, hanging flowers for seed collecting, drying herbs, and whimsically displaying a host of items from household linens to gift wrap to baby clothes, etc.
Made of wood with a metal guide and brace, this drying rack contains eight arms that fold out into a fan shape, allowing for air to circulate freely between each arm. Measuring 2 1/2 feet in length, each arm offers quite a bit of room and can accommodate linens in a wide variety of shapes and sizes.
Very easy to operate, the clothes dryer slides onto a piece of wood attached to the wall with just two screws. This particular clothes dryer came without its original wall attachment, so we made one out of antique wood so that it could be hung on the wall and put to use in its new home. All that you need are two regular screws for the pre-drilled holes, and this clothes dryer will be fully operational for another 100 years.
A bit tricky to track down via the original patent, we couldn't find the name of the original inventor, but we do know that these wooden clothes dryers came in a variety of names - Favorite, Beauty, Perfection - all made for the purpose of drying clothes long before the electric tumble dryers we know today were invented. Some research suggests that this style was built for mounting on or near plumbing pipes in or around the shower or tub so that wet clothes could drip dry in a water-friendly place, while not getting the floor wet.
When not in use, this drying rack folds up and sits flush against the wall, sticking out just 2" inches in depth, making it ideal for small spaces and out-of-the-way storage.

In beautiful antique condition, the wood is strong and sturdy, and the metal guide and brace are intact and operate smoothly. Please note, as mentioned above, we built a custom wall mount for this clothes dryer since it did not come with its original one. The mount is made entirely out of antique wood with authentic distressed character so that it matches the age of the clothes dryer itself. The wall mount is tapered at one end so that the clothes dryer easily and smoothly slides on and off the mount. Please see all photos. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.
