{HISTORY}

So classic in style and so beautiful in simplicity, this antique porcelain sugar and creamer set was made by Charles Field Haviland in Limoges, France between 1868-1876.

Gold stripes and dots rim the necks and handles of each piece and their large size makes them ideal for tea and coffee gatherings with friends or for table service during mealtimes.

We've written quite a lot about the Haviland family here and they are no stranger to the shop. For good reason. All pieces bearing the Haviland name are exquisitely made and elegantly designed. That's because talent and trade were passed down through generations of the family and pride in their work was a through-line that transcended centuries of beautiful dishware.

The lovely thing about this pair in particular is the proportions. The sugar bowl is almost canister size, allowing for a wide variety of storage uses beyond sugar. The creamer holds three cups, making it an ideal size for tea trays, help-yourself coffee carts, and table dining.

We could write endlessly about the accommodating way gold and white dishes effortlessly fit into just about every type of decor. That's why we always stock the shop with this symbiotic color palette. Whether you collect vintage or antique dishware or are just starting to grow a collection of mismatched modern and vintage pieces, gold and white looks great with everything from florals to solids.

In addition to cream and sugar, we also love dishes of this size and style for use as fresh cut flower vases too. These two may be 160 years old but that doesn't make them any less useful in today's 21st century kitchen.
