{HISTORY}

Made in Austria between 1890 and 1915, this large porcelain platter features a shimmery gold and green color palette paired with classic design details. Made by an unknown pottery but marked with the universal export mark "Imperial China Austria," this antique beauty features the Innsbruck pattern consisting of green laurel leaves, gold overlays, and a golden greek key stripe. 

Hefty in weight (almost 4lbs!) and beautifully made, this platter was a prime example of the types of exquisite porcelain being made in Austria at the turn of the century. Although there is not much information on the history of the backstamp, it is believed to have been used by many different factories as a mark of elite design and craftsmanship that would appeal to luxury buyers in the export market. 

Sized at 16" inches in length and 11" inches in width, this platter is ideal for year round use  and would be especially pretty during the holiday season. Given its classic design and go--with-anything color palette, it's difficult to imagine a type of food that would not look sensational when presenting something delicious on this platter.

Whether you are serving a holiday roast at Christmastime, a summer salad during the hottest day of the year, roasted vegetables in winter, or a batch of lemon bars in spring , you are in good hands with this pretty platter, no matter the occasion.

{CONDITION}

In beautiful antique condition, this platter contains n chips cracks, spots or staining. The gold detailing is shiny and shimmery. The gold stripe around the edge of the platter has mostly worn away over time. The pattern details are crisp and clear throughout with only two of the slightest (so very slight) wear marks on the two small areas in the Greek key stripe. Please see photos.
