Antique Alfred Meakin Medway Decor All Blue Dinner Plate circa 1897
Nature gives to every time and season, some beauties of its own... Charles Dickens
{HISTORY}
Created in 1897, this antique Alfred Meakin dinner plate hails from Tunstall, England. Decorated in the Medway Blue pattern consisting of flowering tree branches, butterflies and a decorative inner band with geometric flowers, this is one of the prettiest antique dinner plates we have ever seen.
Hard to find, in single dish form, this beauty is a bit of a rarity which makes it all the more treasured. Most Medway place settings are sold in whole or almost complete sets, so we are excited to offer this plate as a single item, whether it fills out your Medway collection or it enhances your current mix and max china pieces.
With over 120 years of age to it, it is fun to imagine all the dinner parties this one plate must have experienced. Dreamy and functional - that's the best kind of dinnerware in the land of the Vintage Kitchen!
As for the pottery company, Alfred Meakin was in business from 1875-1976. After changing hands (and names!) several times throughout the 20th century, it finally came to rest with the Churchill Group in 1991.

{STYLE IDEA}
Because this plate is so attractive in appearance, it would look lovely in a collection of mismatched blue and white china, or as an elegant wall hanging for a beach house or country cottage kitchen.
