Hopping her way into your kitchen from the 20th century, this cute little ceramic bunny planter vase was made in Taiwan for the American giftware import company, Department 56.

Nowadays, Department 56 is best known for their lighted ceramic holiday villages, but when they were first founded in the 1970s, they were part of the giftware department at Bachman's Florist in Minneapolis, MN. You can just imagine the slew of creative planters and decorative containers that would have passed through Department 56 back then. This little bunny rabbit planter was one such whimsy. 

Made between the 1970s and 1980s, this bunny features a small, square harvest basket strapped to her back that is just the right size for a mini succulent garden, a small bouquet of flowers, or a batch of colorful Eastertime candies. 

With her long ears, detailed fur, and sweet, chubby cheek expression, this plant holder packs a ton of personality in her petite shape. Like all great characters, she comes with her own flair in the form of an original yellow ribbon. But to demonstrate how easily you can change up her aesthetic for year-round entertaining, we tied a bit of raffia around her neck to give her a rustic country vibe. Not strictly limited to springtime or Easter decor, add a green velvet ribbon around her neck and place a tiny balsam spig in her pack and she's just as ready to celebrate the winter holidays with you as much as the springtime Easter egg hunt.

{CONDITION}

In lovely vintage condition, this bunny contains no chips, cracks, spots or staining. There is a slight, barely noticeable dimple just above her nose, which is a manufacturing flaw, as it is under the glaze. The tips of her ears are entirely intact but a little rough to the touch and not quite as smooth as the rest of her body. The glaze is very shiny and bright throughout and she sits securely on a flat surface without any wobbling.
