{HISTORY}

Hailing from the passionate country of Brazil, comes this beautiful silver bud vase made by Selandia. So exquisite in simplicity its difficult to imagine any situation where this detail of decor would not look lovely. Selandia Silver itself is a bit of a mystery as far as origin and company offerings, but the intention of a bud vase is very clearly meant to represent nothing but adoration. Whether you are marveling at a single flower plucked from your garden, surprising your sweetheart with a blossom, or honoring a spiritual cause in tribute, bud vases quietly extoll the meanings of love in the most sincerest of ways.

Gorgeously tarnished in all the right spots, this bud vase was made sometime during the mid-20th century. Whether Selandia Brazil was connected in any way with the Danish-modern design company (also named Selandia) or if it had anything to do with the early 20th century luxury cargo ship that floated around the world (again named Senlandia), it is uncertain. Sometimes these unknowns make a vintage piece's story even better though. Then we can take a little liberty and imagine a wonderful adventure for such an object. In the Vintage Kitchen, we like to imagine a little passionate love affair was involved with this darling. Maybe it was a flower-a-day on someone's breakfast tray, or someone's humble mantel piece offering celebrating a figure like the statue that stands over Rio de Janiero  or perhaps it was a small message of big importance from one heart to another. Whichever and whatever the case may be, there is definitely a bit of magic wrapped up in this skinny silhouette. The Brazillians, they know all about love and passion and adoration. And most importantly they know beauty, clearly, as they made it here.
