On with the dance, let joy be unconfined. Lord Byron

{HISTORY}

In 1946, this is how you added a little gaiety to your table settings. Made by Canonsburg Pottery, in Canonsburg, Pennsylvania in 1946, this colorful platter features the Royal Queen Empress Chantilly pattern with its jaunty portraits, platinum filigree, and whimsical air.

Highly detailed, the gold lacy filigree design was used by numerous American potteries during the 20th century including Homer Laughlin, Royal and WS George, so it is no stranger to a pretty dish. Canonsburg even used it on quite a few of their own in-house patterns, making it fun to mix and match with other Canonsburg pieces.

Operating just south of Pittsburgh from the early 1900s to the late 1970s, Canonsburg remained the passion of one family for almost its entire run. Three years after it was purchased by an outside entity, unfortunately, the new owner, wasn't as successful as the previous one and the pottery closed forever in 1978.

Thank goodness the dancing couple lives on though adding joy and merriment to your kitchen and your mealtimes. Measuring 11.25" inches in length it is a great size for snacks and sharing. The Christmas time colors of red, green and gold make it especially festive at holiday time.
