{HISTORY}

The pride of Poland, Carl Tielsch Porcelain was known for its high quality right from the very beginning when the pottery first started in 1845. That's because Carl was interested in putting his best foot forward from day one. He hired highly skilled, designers and decorators, he created a large portfolio of products and he diversified - making dishware for the domestic market and the hotel industry as well.  Those smart decisions at the start led him to not only expand the pottery's production capabilities but also invest in state-of-the-art manufacturing processes and employ over 1500 workers at the height of his business's success. It also assured that the pottery would survive two world wars, global economic setbacks, and internal restructuring as future generations took over operations over the course of the 20th century.

These porcelain dinner plates were made between 1925 and 1932 when C.T. Altwasser was experiencing the highs and lows of world history. In the 1920s, the pottery flourished, but when the Great Depression struck in 1929 and affected all industries world-wide in the 1930s, C.T. Altwasser went through layoffs and economic upset just like everyone else. True to Carl's mission though, despite adversity, the pottery continued to put its best foot forward by producing beautiful dishes like this set.

Featuring a gorgeous navy blue rim with pink rose swags, almond-hued swirls, pale yellow scallops and gold stripes. these dishes contain a visual feast of layered patterns that are so interesting and dynamic.  Offering layers upon layers of design, they contain an array of colors including navy blue, black, spring green, butter yellow, pale pink, raspberry, almond, ivory, cornflower blue, gold and white.

Just lovely for summer soirees, we especially love the nautical aesthetic these plates present with their rolling bright blue edge indicative of waves and the sea. The stylish blue squares, like sapphire gems designed in a ring setting, remind us of artistic designs on stylish French Hermes scarfs too. The whole arrangement is quite luxurious and exactly what you might expect from a premier porcelain manufacturer.
