{HISTORY}

Located in an unsuspecting strip mall in Washington DC stands one of the city's most famous Chinese restaurants rated one of the best in America. Specializing in Peking duck, handmade pancakes, locally grown vegetables and traditional recipes of Northern Chinese cuisine, the Peking Gourmet Inn has been a family-run business and a DC staple since 1978. Catering to celebrities, politicians and locals alike, this white tablecloth restaurant credits consistency, professional service, and authentic fresh food prepared daily with their own farm-grown vegetables as their magical formula for success.

This rare pair of oval side dishes feature the Peking Gourmet Inn logo, complete with ducks in a pretty shade of evergreen accompanied by Chinese detailing.  Made in 2000 by Homer Laughlin for use as side dishes or small platters, these two were meant for sharing making them especially fun for party foods or special events. 

It's hard to find vintage Chinese restaurant ware with accompanying logos these days, so these two represent not only a special part of vintage Washington DC history but also Chinese restaurant history too. Learn more about the restaurant here.

{CONDITION}

In lovely vintage condition. As expected with vintage restaurant ware, there are some minor utensil marks on the front of both dishes. These marks are only seen when the dishes are held at an angle near a light source. There are no chips or cracks with the exception of one small chip on the back of one dish that measures 1/2" inch (in length). This chip does not affect the overall integrity of the dish. Each dish measures 10.5" inches (length) x 7.5" inches (width) and weighs 1.6lbs.
