Vintage Johnson Bros Sheraton Dinner Plates - Set of Four
{HISTORY}
Made in England beginning in 1944, Johnson Brothers' Sheraton pattern features a gorgeous big and blousy bouquet of hand-colored flowers. Debuting during WWII, this floral abundance was meant to symbolize resilience in nature and the comfort of tradition - two notions that would lend a calming aesthetic to the kitchen and the dining table during a chaotic time in world history.
In manufacture through 1980, symbolism aside, it's easy to see why this was such a popular choice worthy of an almost forty-year production run. Artistic, dramatic, and finely detailed, the Sheraton pattern is a veritable garden party on a plate.
Hand-decorated with scalloped rims and embossed shoulders, this set of four dinner plates is a work of art just as much as a collection of functional dinner plates. Colors include periwinkle, raspberry, pale lemon, mint green, smoky plum, blush, espresso, sage, lavender, and teal. It's a winsome combination of delicate hues that offers an array of inspiration for your spring and summer table as well as decorative wall decor.

{CONDITION}
In lovely vintage condition, these plates contain no chips or cracks with the exception of two plates, which each have two minor chips on the back of each plate near the rim. The chips are not visible from the front. The largest of the chips measures 1/4 of inch and the smallest measures 1/16th of an inch. We suspect that these imperfections were most likely caused not bya tumble through history but by plate hangers, which can sometimes damage dishware if improbably hung or knocked against the wall. Other than that, these plates are in lovely shape with bright and vibrant colors and the crisp, clear detailing in the floral bouquets.
{SIZE}
Each plate measures 10" inches in diameter and weighs 1 lb.
