{HISTORY}

Every once in a while a whimsical heirloom will come to the shop that is all personality, ready to give your cook space an extra dose of character in an instant. This vintage plate is one such example. Beautifully detailed, this kitty may be on the petite size as far as decoration plates go but she's a giant in the personality department. 

Intended for use as a canape plate serving delicate tea sandwiches and pastries,  this charmer can also can be hung on the wall like a portrait plate - a queen of the kitchen looking out over her favorite room in the house.  Framed by a ceramic lace doily with a scalloped edge and a pink ribbon-tied rose, this kitty is very sweet and very lifelike. With bright green eyes that seem to follow you around the room, finely textured fur, an embossed botanical background, and a sweet expression, this little kit kat was handcrafted in China for Fitz & Floyd between 1998-2000. 

Part of Fitz & Floyd's Kittens & Roses pattern, there was an entire batch of felines that debuted in this collection. They were fashioned into teapots, draped on ceramic boxes,  and styled into salt and pepper shakers, sugar bowls, cookie jars, and tabletop decorations.  A veritable clowder of pink and white kittens lounging their way around the kitchen.

So whimsical for tea parties, cat lovers and cottage decor enthusiasts, this plate also serves as lovely wall art for a nursery, kid's room or play area.

{CONDITION}

In lovely vintage condition. There are no chips, cracks, spots or stains on this plate except for a pencil point size chip on the front at the very top edge of the pink doily. Practically unnoticeable thanks to colors and patterns in the doily, you'd be hard-pressed to see this small chip if you didn't know to look for it. There is one small old chip on the back inner ring of the plate.  The gold edge that rims the doily and the pink ribbon is wearing slightly in some spots which adds a pretty shabby chic aesthetic to the overall composition.
