 Cooking is a celebration...

{HISTORY}

A robust consumme. French Onion Soup. Osso Bucco. A centuries-old recipe for peanut soup or a modern-day one for split pea. A buckle of any berry kind. Bread pudding. Beef Stew. Pumpkin pie with a dollop of whip cream on the side. Slow-simmered rhubarb. Warm baked apples and a scoop of cool vanilla ice cream. Butternut squash puree. Sauteed mushrooms. Slices of Thanksgiving turkey atop a bed of herb-laced bread stuffing. These are just a few examples of festive foods that would look delightful and delicious served in this set of colorful porcelain bowls.

Made by Celebrate in Japan, these two are a matching set of shallow soup bowls in the coupe style and the Rosemere pattern. We emphasize the shallow depth because this shape in particular works well, not only with soup, but also with salads, saucy pastas and provincial-style foods that are a touch too brothy for a plate but too bountiful for a more traditional soup bowl.

Containing a bevy of colors, we instantly think of Autumn tablescapes when admiring this pair thanks to their almond-colored trim around the rim.  All that warm, hearty cool-weather fare that tends to be a touch plain looking in color, looks a bit prettier when served in a bowl decorated with a complimentary floral trim.

There's not much history to be found on Celebrate Japan as far as pottery company information goes, but if we had to guess we'd suspect these bowls were made between the 1920s-1940s based on design and color palette.
