{HISTORY}

Oh the pineapple. The ultimate symbol of hospitality and warm welcome. Around the Vintage Kitchen, we have a special fondness for anything pineapple. Like a wishbone or a rabbit's foot, it represents a universally understood emblem that transcends language and culture. The sight of this magnificent fruit has enchanted people for centuries dating all the way back to the time of the sea-captains and trade routes and prized possessions. We love the story of the pineapple and its powers so much that we wrote a blog post about how it came to be such a valued symbol around the world. Find that post here. 

This pair of vintage brass pineapples aren't quite as old as the watery trade routes but they both contain a time-worn patina all their own. Made in India of 100% brass, they feature removable tops and hollow bases so that they can be filled with all sorts of tids and bits from everyday life. Here in the Vintage Kitchen, we love them for their ability to hold jewelry while we cook, their ability to organize the cocktail cart, and their ability to act as safe keeps for small errant items like toothpicks and wine charms, and cheese knives.

A pineapple is always a good idea. Two is even better! A splash of pineapple whether big or small will bring a warm bit of welcome to any space it occupies. These two are photographed together yet sold independently. Please select the size you prefer from the drop-down menu.

{CONDITION}

In lovely vintage condition. Naturally aged patina. Easily removable lids. Clean exterior bodies. The interiors of both pineapples are bright and shiny but there are some tarnish marks (please see photos). A fun feature of the pineapple top sections is that each set of leaves rotates on its own thanks to one central screw located inside the top section.

{SIZE}

The large pineapple measures 6.5" inches (height) x 3" inches (diameter at the widest part of base). The smaller pineapple measures 5" inches (height) x 2.25" inches (widest point at base). The larger pineapple weighs 1lb. 7oz. The smaller pineapple weighs 9 oz.
