{HISTORY}

This pair of vintage white cotton handkerchiefs features beautiful lace butterflies at one corner augmented with floral embroidery designs.

So delicate, the handkerchiefs are paper thin and made of cotton so transparent they are almost see-through. Elegant and light as a feather, there are few things more refined in a linen closet than the graceful handkerchief.

Traditionally associated with the well-dressed woman, here in the Vintage Kitchen we love to incorporate them in other ways too. One of our favorite ways is to keep stacks of them on hand for use as cocktail napkins. Often, when serving beverages at cocktail hour, it's lovely to include a napkin when handing out drinks. Most guests never need one, but a bit of cloth underneath a glass adds a final touch to the presentation and an elegant detail to the whole soiree.

These two may be delicate in construction but they wash beautifully and have held up so well over time, that you needn't worry that they are too fragile for everyday use. A soft, pretty handkerchief is one of life's small luxuries. Once you exchange scratchy paper tissues and paper napkins with a bit of soft cotton, you'll never want to go back to using paper again.

{CONDITION}

In gorgeous vintage condition, these two handkerchiefs contain no spots, stains or pulled threads. The handkerchief with the wreath of roses embroidery is a slightly creamier color than the other handkerchief. The cotton is very soft and the needlework is beautifully executed. Please see photos.
