{HISTORY}
Every kitchen needs a globe. That's our opinion here in the Vintage Kitchen anyway. Take a spin, and discover something new! Even if you can't physically travel to your desired destination, you can always travel there through food made right in your own kitchen. Lonely for London? Make some English tea and crumpets. Sick for Switzerland? Pull out the fondue pot and pick out some cheeses. Fretful for France? Comfort yourself with a wine soaked slow bake and a crusty baguette. Wistful for Warsaw? Well.. you get the picture. The entire world is at your doorstep when you walk into the kitchen. A vintage globe will help you get there.
This vintage desktop globe was made by Replogle in 1961. Founded by Luther and Elizabeth Replogle, Replogle is a leading globemaker that has been in business since 1930 and has designed some of the most beautiful maps in the industry. This globe features a free spinning gyro-matic brass mount that enables the globe to be spun and viewed from all angles... top to bottom and side to side. Because of this unique design it gives the effect that the world is floating above its metal stand, and really allows you to view all cities and countries up-close.
The stereo relief style map, designed by cartographer Gustav Brueckmann features raised areas denoting mountain ranges and the globe also features steamship routes, capital cities, boundary lines, ocean currents and a free spinning time zone disc. After careful research we pinpointed the exact date of manufacture of this globe - 1961 - thanks to listings on the map. History lovers will be happy to see the presence of the United Arab Republic, the Union of Soviet Socialist Republic, the Samoan Islands, Ceylon, French Somaliland and Tangenyika.
With this colorful pal in your kitchen the world is truly your oyster! Now, off you go. Explore and enjoy!

There is some very light tea-colored staining in the ocean to the right of New Zealand .All of these are minor and mostly only noticeable upon very close inspection. Please see photos for details.
