{HISTORY}

Full of cheer, an array of complimentary colors, and a feminine shape, this pair of vintage berry bowls was made in February of 1929 by Edwin M. Knowles. Debuting just six months before the Great Depression began, there is nothing depressing about these two. From their pale butter yellow color (called ivory by EMK) to their vibrant floral bouquet, these berry bowls carry nothing but sunshine as they ready themselves for their 100th birthday in just a few short years. 

Based in West Virginia between 1900-1963, Edwin M. Knowles made some of the prettiest dishware in the country with patterns that were colorful, feminine, and visually striking. This set features a lovely color palette of navy blue, tomato red, pale mustard, lemon yellow, tangerine, and mint green. A gadroon-style embossed rim highlights the lazy scalloped shape. A rare pattern from an exceptional maker, we suspect after researching a plethora of vintage Edwin Knowles patterns, that this might be the Rosyln pattern.

Perfect for all of summer's delicious treats, these bowls are ideally sized for serving everything from ice cream to fruit to salad and when not in use, make lovely display pieces for wall and table.

{CONDITION}

Both bowls contain lots of gorgeous crazing, which given their almost 100 years of age adds lots of authentic character. One bowl is a slightly darker yellow than the other. And one bowl along the edge contains a barely noticeable little chip - the size of a pencil point on the rim.
