Originally published in 1965, this book also contains a wealth of midcentury camp style from the vehicles (the Volkswagon Campmobile!) to the hiking packs (Abercrombie & Fitch)! to the kitchen equipment (L.L.Bean!) which adds an extra layer of nostalgia and simplicity, illustrating the philosophy that you don't need the lastest technology or most advanced materials to spend a weekend in the woods.

Another fascinating chapter is the first aid section which dives way beyond how to handle minor scrapes and scratches.
