Rx for Life by Ida Jean Kain, 1940 Edition - Rare Weight Management Exercise and Cookbook
This book is intended as a guide to healthy, normal weight and a beautifully proportioned figure. But more than that... I hope it will be a guide to happiness..." (from the Forward)
{HISTORY}
Just about one of the coolest vintage beauty books around, this very rare 1940 edition of Rx for Slimming by Ida Jean Kan covers not diet fads or ridiculous reduction menus but instead focuses on the whole woman and her unique, ideal body shape to promote feelings of health and happiness. It includes excercises, suggested menus for weight managment, tips and techniques for a variety of life circumstances - like excercises for the office workers, ways to get back in shape after having a baby, ways to stay in shape as you age, etc all from a 1940's perspective (which is really just a common sense perspective!). Written in the days before massive urban gyms, extreme sports, and aggressive exercising, this books offers simple routine exercises and food choice suggestions that will lead to a graceful, feminine silhouette that the 1940's woman was known for.
