Steubenville Dinnerware is in the heart of every home... (1948 ad campaign)

{HISTORY}

Made by Steubenville Pottery in Steubenville, Ohio between the 1940s and 1950s, this rare, hard-to-find feathery blue leaf pattern might just be the prettiest thing a soft-boiled egg has ever met! Reminiscent of early aeronautical designs, the stylish grey lines between the leaves offer a sweeping sense of motion, giving this breakfast charmer quite a bit of fresh personality.  Just what you need to start the day with delight!

In operation from 1879 to 1959, Steubenville was appreciated by dish collectors for their charming designs, which ran the gamut of artistic patterns and shapes from traditional to modern. When bankruptcy threatened in the late 1930s, they were saved by American designer, Russel Wright, who created a series of dishware for the pottery using sleek lines, modern colors, and minimalist designs.  This fruitful collaboration between pottery and designer helped successfully carry Steubenville through the next twenty years of business until they closed permanently in 1959.
