It took McCall's editors not days, but years to prepare this cookbook. Some of the recipes are favorites from the pages of the magazine. Many are brand-new, developed especially for this book, often with your help. The editors have incorporated many of the recipes, shortcuts, tips and traditions, you've been kind enough to tell them about at McCall's. (From the dust jacket)

{HISTORY}

A trusted authority on women's issues and interests since 1873, McCall's Magazine was always on the forefront of trends that appealed to American women whether it be cooking, household tips, fashion or beauty. With 100 years of expertise, refinement, and understanding of their readerships needs and wants, they knew that American women during the 1960's were especially interested in glamour, travel and entertaining but not everyone was a skilled cook in the kitchen or had the luxury of time and budget to travel the world.

The editors at McCall's set out to write a cookbook for those women in mind... the novice cook, the person who needed instruction from the very beginning, who had the dreams and desires to build a repertoire of delicious, nutritious meals for herself, her family and her friends. And they set out to write a book for the adventurer - the home cook who wanted to experience the foods of other cultures and learn about the art of entertaining so that she too could become a more worldly figure through food. Covering every aspect of cooking from equipment to techniques, recipes to nutrition, this 786 page cookbook contains not only a wealth of information but also a wealth of recipes that run the gamut from breakfast to dinner and everything in between.

There have been many reprints of the McCall's Cook Book since it's debut in 1963. The covers varied in color between printings and were offered in turquoise, yellow, red and green. This listing is for the rare yellow edition and, even rarer, contains the original unclipped dust jacket. A true vintage cookbook gem!
