{HISTORY}

Amy Vanderbilt is a household name in the manners and etiquette department - an authority on all things kind and complimentary. But she was also a real adviser and trusted advocate for women who wanted to tap into their creativity. In the 1960s, she launched a booklet program called the Amy Vanderbilt Success Program for Women in which she set out to quickly teach women some of the finer aspects of living an interesting, cultured and enigmatic life. Topics ranged in wide variety. From  How to Throw a Theme Party to How to Be a More Interesting Woman to How to Organize Your Life and How to Help Your Husband Get-Ahead. She partnered with experts in the field of entertaining, decorating, decorum, style and psychology to offer real-life solutions to some of the issues that plagued and also intrigued the midcentury woman.

In this booklet, How to Develop Poise and Self-Confidence, Amy collaborated with a woman named Michael Drury, who was a Stanford University educated writer and lead contributor to a handful of women's publications in the mid-20th century. The result of that collaboration produced this 1963 guide to creating a richer and fuller life. Packed with an assortment of tips, tricks and advice on how to change your mindset, so that you can learn to walk through life with your chin up and your spirit buoyant, this booklet offers a crash course in confidence that is timeless in appeal.

Covering such topics as Grooming, Patience, Posture, Positivity, Mindset and Inner Voice, readers are guided through all the founding principles that lead to a more fulfilled life - as defined by a brighter outlook, a deeper understanding and acceptance of oneself, and a more fulfilling connection to the world. Although this was geared towards mid-century adult women, this booklet offers classic advice that everyone can benefit from regardless of age and gender.
