{HISTORY}

Handmade in South America by Brazilian artist Raul Vinelli, this flock of white wooden birds is not vintage nor antique but they sure do add a ton of character to a table set with age-old dishware. Raul considered these birds to be doves of peace, but our first impression was that they looked an awful lot like seagulls. That means they are twice the fun and open up all sorts of decorating possibilities that will delight your space and your imagination.

Containing light-weight wooden bodies and long, thin wire legs, these birds can be easily shaped and bent in a variety of directions, making them eye-catching additions to a wreath, a holiday tree, a mantel garland or a table centerpiece. But many other options abound too. Twist their legs around a linen cloth and you have a cute and quirky napkin ring. Perch each one inbetween some lemon and lime slices at the edge of a glass and you have instant garnish for your tropical cocktail. Or wrap the wire around a wine cork, like we did in the photos and each bird looks like its perching on a piling at the end of the dock. Creativity abounds!

Each bird in this set is painted bright white with marigold yellow beaks and gold striping on the wings. Given their handmade, handpainted nature, each bird has its own unique personality. No two look exactly alike.

Raul first learned about woodworking from tinkering around in his dad's workshop as a boy. Refining his art as an adult, his passion for this unique style of woodcraft has led Raul to develop an array of handmade tropical birds for display and craft purposes.

{CONDITION}

In wonderful condition. These birds look practically brand new. Their wire legs are strong and easily bent. The wings are securely attached to each bird. Please see photos.
