My {blind} aunt, Jenepher, had the faculty of seeing people without her eyes. I always felt that she left her body, she stood outside it, and in some mystical way, saw people soul to soul.  An expensive Dublin physician, with side whiskers, once told me that this was rot, that the human organism has eyes everywhere, in the back of the head as the saying is, and in the fingertips. They only need developing, and in my aunt Jenepher's case they are developed. (Chapter 1, page 3)

{HISTORY}

From one of Ireland's beloved storytellers begins Donn Byrne's novel about the colorful MacFarlane family and their beautiful estate set in a quaint Irish village among a pastoral countryside edged by the shores of Destiny Bay.

Originally published in 1925, this is the 1941 edition featuring a beautifully designed dust jacket and kelly green coverboards. Donn Byrne died tragically in a car accident in 1928, at the height of his career, but his work has continued to inspire writers around the world. His ability to capture the natural beauty of Ireland was one of his most prized skills as a writer. Along with a cast of interesting and dynamic characters, Destiny Bay favors the themes of romance and comedy, two genres he was particularly well known for.

This edition is particularly wonderful both inside and out, not only because of the writing but also thanks to the gorgeous dust jacket. Containing shades of celery green, orange, black, and white with a beautiful depiction of Aunt Jenepher in the garden, it's like a little art piece and of itself
