{HISTORY}

Made in Stoke-on-Trent, England, in the 1920s, this antique platter features a country-style floral bouquet of pink, purple, and yellow flowers with a green stripe and paneled edges.

When this pattern debuted in the 1920s, the overall design was described by Eaton's,  Canadian retailer in 1927 as "quaint and charming, the blooms  - a bouquet of field flowers, the style - ideal for a summer cottage." We couldn't agree more.

Hand-painted and aged to perfection, light staining and crazing marks add another layer of history, making it just as pretty to display on a wall as on a table.

When this platter was made in the 1920s, Booths was bustling with over 800 employees and a fine-quality reputation in the industry.  A family-run business whose roots began in the Stoke-on-Trent area in the 1850s, Booths was in operation until the 1940s when it was acquired by Colclough China. What is especially fun about this platter, besides its pretty pattern on front, are the lovely impressed marks and backstamps on the back. The impressed marks are a bit hard to read but they add lovely texture partnered with the pretty printed backstamp.

{SPECIAL FEATURES}

  • Hard to find Old Staffordshire pattern
  • Colors include forest green, grape, plum rose pink, lemon yellow, and spring green against an ivory background

{CONDITION}

In lovely antique condition, this platter contains no chips or cracks. There is lovely light staining and crazing on the front, which adds a beautiful aged aesthetic. The impressed marks on back are a little bit difficult to read, but they say Booths and the year of manufacture, which looks like it says 1923 or possibly 1926. Please see photos.
